چکیده

The concept of a nuclear temperature was introduced some seventy years ago in pioneering works performed by Bethe [1] and Weisskopf [2]. The goal was to describe the formation and the decay of a compound nucleus in reactions induced by light projectiles, mostly neutrons. Later on, the concept of a nuclear temperature was extended to reactions involving highenergy projectiles and heavy ions [3]. These new studies were triggered by the quest for nuclear instabilities and a possible liquid-gas phase transition in nuclear matter [4,5]. To this goal, different experimental methods were developed and applied to extract information on thermal characteristics of highly excited nuclear systems (see e.g. [6] and references therein).

Volumetric thermometry with proton resonance

Proton resonance frequency (PRF), by which it precesses in the magnetic field, alters due to change in temperature, which can be detected with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). MRI scanner uses protons’ nuclear magnetic resonance phenomenon. The target is first excited with a radio frequency pulse, then it’s relaxation to initial stage is observed. Parts with different temperatures can be mappe...

Fluorescence thermometry enhanced by the quantum coherence of single spins in diamond.

We demonstrate fluorescence thermometry techniques with sensitivities approaching 10 mK · Hz(-1/2) based on the spin-dependent photoluminescence of nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers in diamond. These techniques use dynamical decoupling protocols to convert thermally induced shifts in the NV center's spin resonance frequencies into large changes in its fluorescence. By mitigating interactions with n...

Isotopic trends in nuclear multifragmentation

An overview of the recent progress in the studies of nuclear multifragmentation is presented. Special emphasis is put on the exploration of isotopic trends in nuclear multifragmentation and the possibilities to extract physical information related to the nuclear equation of state. Relevant experimental methods of isotope identification are described. The isotopic composition of fragments is use...

N ov 1 99 8 Isotope thermometry in nuclear multifragmentation

A systematic study of the effect of fragment−fragment interaction, quantum statistics, γ-feeding and collective flow is made in the extraction of the nuclear temperature from the double ratio of the isotopic yields in the statistical model of one-step (Prompt) multifragmentation. Temperature is also extracted from the isotope yield ratios generated in the sequential binary-decay model. Comparis...
